Driving Change Together: Chair File on Accelerating Health Equity

Advancing Health Equity: A Collaborative Effort at the AHA Accelerating Health Equity Conference in Kansas City.

The AHA Accelerating Health Equity Conference, led by the AHA Community Health Improvement (ACHI) network and AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE), will take place in Kansas City, Mo., with over 1,000 participants beginning tomorrow. This year’s theme, Driving Change Together, emphasizes the importance of collaborative leadership from hospitals, health systems, public health departments, and community-based organizations to ensure equitable access to quality health care for all individuals.

The conference features a diverse lineup of plenary speakers, breakout sessions, and immersion experiences. These sessions will cover crucial topics such as building and maintaining community partnerships, addressing complex health and social needs, promoting diversity within leadership teams, and fostering inclusivity in the workplace. Community immersion experiences will allow participants to visit local organizations in Kansas City, witnessing community health improvement efforts firsthand.

Healthcare challenges are multifaceted, and no single entity can solve them alone. By collaborating with community partners, progress towards health equity can be accelerated.
