A Slice of Thanksgiving at Holiday World: The Delightful ‘Good Gravy!’ Boomerang Ride
Holiday World, Indiana’s largest amusement park, is starting the spring by unveiling its Thanksgiving-themed area. The new ride called ‘Good Gravy!’ has generated a lot of buzz since its announcement. This oversized interpretation of Thanksgiving dinner features riders sitting in gravy boat trains and speeding out of grandma’s house, passing through a giant can of cranberry sauce, and going past a towering milk jug. The ride is a family-friendly example of a “boomerang” ride, where riders experience both forward and backward rides using the same tracks.
While some boomerang coasters in other parks feature extreme twists, turns, and loops for advanced riders, ‘Good Gravy!’ is relatively tame with a minimum height requirement of 38 inches. The new ride is located in the Thanksgiving-themed area alongside other attractions like “Turkey Whirl” and “Gobblers Getaway.”
To raise money for the North Spencer Community Action Center, Holiday World recently auctioned off the first rides on ‘Good Gravy!’. The first rides took place on May 3, with exclusive access for Platinum and Season Pass members on May 4 and 5. The park opens to all visitors on Saturday, with single-day passes starting at $39.99. Splashin’ Safari, the water park, opens the following weekend with increased prices. Both parks are operating on a cashless system, and Holiday World is scheduled to close in October.
