2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship: Arkansas Educator Jessica Culver Embarks on Alaskan Expedition

Jessica Culver, a doctoral student in the College of Education and Health Professions Adult and Lifelong Learning program, has been chosen to participate in the 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship program. This initiative is a partnership between National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions and includes a cohort of 35 members. Culver expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and stated her excitement at being selected for this fellowship.

As a seasoned educator with 21 years of experience in Arkansas public schools, Culver currently teaches high school civics/economics and concurrent college credit history courses in the Ozark School District. She is devoted to education in her home state and is committed to continuing her professional growth through experiences like the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship.

Culver’s expedition is scheduled to begin on June 2, starting with a trip aboard the National Geographic Quest to Sitka, Alaska. From there, she will continue to Juneau, Alaska as part of the “Exploring Alaska’s Coastal Wilderness” Lindblad expedition. Culver is eager to share this experience with her students and believes it will help her grow as a global educator.

The Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship provides educators with the chance to embark on expeditions to different parts of the world, such as Antarctica, Alaska, and Patagonia. This year marks the 16th group of fellows who gain hands-on experience to bring back to their classrooms with the goal of educating the next generation of “planetary stewards.”
