Zagreb’s Terrifying Night: Sleep Disrupted by Storm and Earthquake Fears
In the early hours of this morning, a fierce thunderstorm struck the Zagreb area, causing many sleepless nights. Twitter users expressed their disbelief at the sudden turn of events. One user wrote: “What an apocalypse this is!” Another tweeted that he did not expect to be woken up by thunder at 3 a.m.
The storm came as a surprise to many, as there had been no prior warning about changing weather conditions or cyclones moving over the area. It was only after the storm had passed that meteorologists confirmed what many people had suspected – it was an earthquake-like shock caused by strong shocks from the thunder.
According to Dunja Plačko Vršnak from DHMZ, this weather is appropriate for this time of year and it is not unusual to have such storms in this region. The EMSC tweet also confirmed how strong the thunder was, with many thinking it was an earthquake due to its rumbling and shaking nature. A user from Stenjevac reported feeling slight shaking and hearing a strong sound in the northern part of Zagreb during the storm.
