Wytheville’s Waffle House Shaken by Third Vehicle Accident in as Many Years

On Wednesday morning, a Tennessee driver accidentally crashed her car into Wytheville’s Waffle House. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident. This marks the third time in recent years that a vehicle has collided with a business in the town. The driver, 61-year-old Robin Noe from Kingsport, explained that her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator as she was attempting to park in front of the Waffle House, leading to the crash through the glass and into the building.

In a previous incident on Feb. 28, a similar crash occurred at Wytheville’s Dollar Tree store, where two people were injured when a 71-year-old woman mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, driving her Ford Taurus through the front of the business. The Dollar Tree store was still repairing damage from a 2023 crash involving a 92-year-old woman who also mistakenly drove into the store, though no injuries were reported in that incident. Despite these occurrences, efforts are being made to ensure public safety and prevent similar accidents in the future.

The driver of this latest incident was charged with reckless driving by police who were called to investigate at 1:47 am on Wednesday morning at 1400 East Main St., Wytheville. Upon investigation, they found no evidence of driver impairment and did not press charges considering it as a private property incident to be settled by insurance companies.
