World Bank Approves $700 Million in Funding for Jordan’s MASAR Program: Strengthening Education, Healthcare and Social Assistance Sectors

On Monday, the World Bank approved two new programs for Jordan, totaling $700 million in funding. The first program, called MASAR (pathways in Arabic), will provide up to $400 million to help equip Jordan’s children and youth with the necessary skills for the labor market and economic transformation.

These initiatives aim to strengthen Jordan’s education, health, and social assistance sectors. In addition to financial assistance, the packages include $7 million in grants, with the rest of the funds provided in the form of concessionary loans.

According to a statement from the World Bank, these programs are critical in improving the overall well-being and development of Jordan. The funding will support efforts to enhance the country’s human capital and promote sustainable economic growth.

World Bank spokesperson Nabeel Darweesh highlighted the importance of these programs in Jordan’s future development. He stated that “Jordan has been facing significant challenges in recent years, including high unemployment rates and limited access to education and healthcare. These programs will help address these challenges by providing targeted support to specific sectors.”
