Women Uniting for Education: The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club’s Wine and Shoe Extravaganza Celebrates Women’s Achievements and Raises Funds for Local Scholarships

The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club hosted its annual Wine and Shoe Extravaganza at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville, Jefferson County. This event was a fundraiser for local scholarships, with three scholarships awarded each year to support the cost of education. These scholarships were available to Ohio Valley seniors pursuing education at a college or trade school, as well as to women returning to school after leaving the workforce.

Amelia Taggart, a member of OVBPW, explained that the scholarships aimed to support women who may have taken a break from education or had decided to pursue a new career path. The organization was committed to helping these women achieve their educational goals by providing financial assistance.

Attendees at the event had the opportunity to vote for their favorite shoes, celebrity servers, and Woman of the Year. Judge Michelle Miller was nominated as the 2024 Woman of the Year and expressed her gratitude for being recognized by such an esteemed organization. She acknowledged the honor of being recognized among such successful and inspiring women. The event celebrated the accomplishments of women in the community and raised funds to support the educational aspirations of local students and professionals.

The Wine and Shoe Extravaganza brought together women from all walks of life to celebrate their achievements and raise funds for local scholarships. The event was a testament to the power of networking and collaboration in achieving success, both personally and professionally. As Amelia Taggart put it, “We believe that every woman deserves access to education, regardless of where she comes from or what her background is.” By providing financial assistance through scholarships like this one, OVBPW is helping make that vision a reality.
