O’Neil in discussions with wolves for contract renewal

Wolves and Gary O’Neil in Informal Discussions for New Deal, Expected to Finalize Soon

Gary O’Neil, the head coach of Wolves, has had informal discussions with the club regarding a potential new deal. Although no agreement has been reached yet, the conversations have been casual and it is expected that finalizing the deal will be straightforward. Matt Hobbs, the sporting director of Wolves, had previously mentioned in March that the club would be sitting down with O’Neil to discuss a new agreement after the season ends.

Despite being appointed shortly before the beginning of last season after the departure of Julen Lopetegui, O’Neil led Wolves to a 14th place finish in the Premier League. They were in the running for a spot in Europe and made it to the FA Cup quarter-finals in March, only to be defeated 3-2 at home by Coventry. However, Wolves struggled in their final 11 games, winning only once and losing eight times, which saw them drop out of contention for European qualification.

Currently, both Wolves and O’Neil are focused on the transfer window and are comfortable with their current situation. This means that a new deal may not be announced imminently and could potentially extend into the start of the new campaign, which begins on 16 August against Arsenal.
