It’s been just a few weeks since Matt Canada was moved from the booth to the sideline, and now he has been completely removed from the stadium. The Steelers have made this change two days before Thanksgiving, which raises questions about their offensive struggles. Despite being a 6-4 team, they have been outgained every week and lack an identity, rhythm, and flow. Their offense has no broader strategy to rope-a-dope a defense into thinking one thing is coming before doing something unexpected. On Sunday, it was basically the Jaylen Warren show, with 10 total points scored by the team.
The incident on Sunday also turned into a shitshow, with receiver Diontae Johnson reportedly being carried away from a member of the coaching staff, head coach Mike Tomlin having to get involved in the kerfuffle, and running back Najee Harris making post-game comments indicating that he was at the end of his rope.
So what’s next for the Steelers? Someone else will be running the show (running backs coach Eddie Faulkner appears to be taking over). Someone else will be calling the plays (quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan will be making those decisions). Someone else will have to figure out how to change course on a moving car.
While it’s not impossible for a team to turn things around after firing their offensive coordinator midseason (as evidenced by
