Vermont Green FC Faces Tough Battle in US Open Cup Loss to Carolina Core

Vermont Green FC faced a tough opponent in Carolina Core during the US Open Cup match. Despite an impressive first half performance, which saw them take a 1-0 lead, they were unable to maintain it and ultimately lost 2-1.

In the first half, Yaniv Bazini successfully converted a penalty in the 28th minute, giving Vermont Green the early advantage. Goalkeeper Nathan Schnur made five important saves to keep his team ahead, but Carolina Core was determined to fight back.

The second half saw Carolina Core’s Papa Ndoye equalize the score with a penalty in the 60th minute, followed by Joshua Rodriguez’s goal in the 70th minute. Vermont Green FC had several opportunities to equalize but were unable to do so, resulting in a heartbreaking defeat.

After the game, head coach Adam Pfeifer expressed his appreciation for the support from the fans and community. He commended his team’s effort against a strong opponent and acknowledged the challenges they faced. Despite their loss in the US Open Cup, Vermont Green FC will shift their focus to their upcoming USL2 campaign that begins on May 18th against Boston City. The team will have time to regroup and prepare for the new season following their exit from this tournament.
