On Monday, Venice and Riverview faced off in the Class 2A-District 12 semifinals of the boys lacrosse season. Venice emerged victorious with an 11-5 score, thanks to the impressive performance of Aiden Sleigher who led the way with 4 goals and 3 assists. John Ptaszek followed closely behind with 3 goals. Owen Alford contributed a goal and 3 assists, while Alex Denley added 2 goals and an assist. Alex Ptasjek made a total of 14 saves for Venice. Meanwhile, Riverview’s Carter Unkel scored 2 goals, and JC Fleming and Jack Yochim each had a goal and 2 assists. Sean Spergl also scored for Riverview, with Dominick Speranza making a total of 12 saves for the team. The win improved Venice’s record to 11-4, while Riverview fell to 5-10. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at 7 p.m., this time for the Class 2A-District 12 title match between Gulf Coast and Venice.
