The USA Track and Field team is led by two exceptional athletes, Noah Lyles and Gabby Thomas, for the World Athletics Relays taking place in the Bahamas on May 4-5. This year’s relay teams will fight for the top spots in the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m, as well as the mixed-gender 4x400m. The top 14 nations from both genders will qualify for the Paris Olympics following this event, with the last two spots being awarded based on world rankings on June 30th.
Last August, Noah Lyles made history by becoming the first sprinter to sweep world titles in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m since Usain Bolt in 2015. He played a crucial role in anchoring the U.S. men’s 4x100m relay team to a gold medal. Lyles is set to compete in the men’s 4x100m pool at the World Relays alongside Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek, among other talented athletes.
On the women’s side, Gabby Thomas and Tamari Davis were part of the world championship-winning relay team in August and are included in the 4x100m pool for this event. Thomas also secured a silver medal in the 200m at those championships. The U.S. women’s team will feature Quanera Hayes from Tokyo Olympic Trials champion Quanera Hayes in their U.S.’s women’s 4×4
