Unresolved Water Quality Issues Plague Iota Residents, Leading to Health Concerns and Frustration

Residents in Iota, including Donna Vidrine, are grappling with water quality issues that have persisted for the past six months. These problems have caused staining on toilets and tubs, as well as a foul smell that gives Donna headaches. Moreover, the water has been causing skin irritation and discomfort after showers, leading to itching and burning sensations that disrupt her sleep.

On April 8th, messages exchanged between Donna and other residents revealed their shared frustration with the water quality. One neighbor reported that their shower water was yellow and had a rust-like smell. This has prompted Donna to spend money on items like whole house filters, doctor visits, and medicines in an effort to safeguard her health from what she believes are unsafe water conditions.

In response to the complaints about the water issues, Iota Mayor Cody Leckelt stated that a project update carried out a year ago may have resulted in problems on the south side of town, leading to discolored water in certain areas. The town is currently flushing fire hydrants to address the issue, and the Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed that water samples taken in the area are within normal limits. Mayor Leckelt encouraged residents experiencing water problems to contact town hall for assistance.
