Jamal Murray makes a surprise appearance at unified basketball game for Colorado students

Unified Sports Inspire Denver Nuggets Star Jamal Murray to Donate $10,000 to Aurora Public Schools’ Disability Sports Program

Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray made a surprise visit to North Middle School in Aurora, Colorado, where he served as a coach for a unified basketball game against his alma mater, Aurora Hills Middle School. Unified sports bring together students with and without disabilities to participate in school sports, providing equal opportunities for all.

During the game, Murray was particularly impressed by the skills of Felipe Avalos, an 8th grader with disabilities who received special attention from Murray and the crowd. The focus of the game was on having fun rather than winning or losing, as all student-athletes enjoyed the experience.

The unified sports program at Aurora Public Schools received a $5,000 donation from UCHealth to support the program within the district. To further show his commitment to helping and inspiring children, Murray surprised everyone by matching the donation. The generous donation will be used to purchase equipment for all unified sports in the district, enhancing the opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in sports.
