
UNESCO Designation of Inform es-Sultan as World Heritage Web site Ignites Israeli Outrage
The United Nations World Heritage Committee has declared the Inform es-Sultan archaeological web site in Jericho a “World Heritage Web site in Palestine.” This determination was made at a convention in Riyadh, in response to UNESCO. The announcement was met with approval from the Palestinian Authority, whereas Israel expressed anger over the choice.
The newly designated web site, located in Jericho within the Israeli-occupied West Financial institution, accommodates historical ruins relationship again to the ninth millennium BCE. Jericho itself is taken into account one of many oldest repeatedly inhabited cities on the earth.
In response to the choice, the Palestinian Authority International Affairs Ministry launched an announcement on Sunday praising the popularity of Jericho’s cultural, financial, and political significance. In addition they highlighted the positioning’s 10,000 years of human growth.
