UN leader opposes Gaza Strip protection, supports two-state solution

UN Secretary General António Guterres believes that a transition period is necessary for the Gaza Strip to achieve a two-state solution. He made these comments at a press conference on Monday, as stated in a UN press release. Instead of coming under the protection of the UN, Guterres calls for everyone to help in this process and urges cooperation from all influential players, including the United States and Arab countries.

Guterres emphasizes the importance of strengthening the Palestinian Self-Government in order to take over power in Gaza and initiate a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. The UN Secretary General stresses that a common approach involving all parties is necessary to ensure peace and stability in the region.

The Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, and Guterres highlights the need for a transition period to allow for peaceful change and a resolution to the conflict. He also emphasizes that collaboration and support from various parties are crucial for achieving this goal.

Overall, Guterres’ remarks reflect his call for cooperation and support from all parties involved in order to facilitate a peaceful and stable resolution in the region.
