Zelensky alleges Russia’s plan to mobilize 300,000 more troops in June, Moscow refutes claim

Ukraine’s Army Needs: False Claims and Miscommunications Surrounding the Request for Additional Troops

In a recent press conference with the Finnish president Alexander Stubb, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Russia was planning to mobilize 300,000 additional soldiers in June. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov denied this information. Zelensky did not provide specific figures regarding the needs of the Ukrainian army but emphasized that they did not require half a million additional troops.

Last December, Zelensky had mentioned that army commanders had requested the mobilization of 500,000 extra men, but he did not confirm this during the recent press conference. Finland’s President Stubb expressed support for Ukraine but ruled out sending troops to the country. Instead, he urged providing weapons, ammunition, and training to Kyiv and supporting their entry into the European Union and NATO.
