The Yard Birds shopping center, which has been vacant for some time now, is facing losses as the free giveaway and clearing out process continues. BnT’s American Treasures, a family business that had been at Yard Birds for 14 years, suffered a break-in over the weekend. The owners, Blake and Cory McDrummond, reported that their trailer was stolen, which they used for various purposes related to their estate and retail store cleaning business.
The theft occurred when someone physically unbolted the gate of BnT’s and took it off its hinges, allowing access to the area where the trailer was kept. The thieves then took the trailer sometime after noon on Saturday. The trailer, which was used daily by the McDrummonds, was described as a 14-foot dual axle with side racks and metal stakes.
Although the giveaway at Yard Birds was initiated by the owner, Darris McDaniel, to clear out the building for potential sale, he did not allow anyone inside due to liability concerns. Instead, items from the mall are being placed outside along the walls of the structure. Some of the items in BnT’s were personal belongings of the McDrummonds that they had not yet removed after the mall’s closure in 2022.
