Nearly 20 days after the knife attack at a private European Championship party in Wolmirstedt, authorities have confirmed that the perpetrator was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A toxicological report following the autopsy of the 27-year-old Afghan revealed no traces of any substances in his system. The investigation into why the situation escalated and what motivated the attacker to target innocent football fans is still ongoing.
The incident began with an argument between the perpetrator and a 23-year-old fellow countryman, resulting in the fatal injury of the latter. The perpetrator then proceeded to stab three other individuals at a private EM-Public-Viewing event, leaving a 75-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman seriously injured, with a 56-year-old man sustaining minor injuries. Upon police arrival, the perpetrator confronted the officers with a knife and was subsequently shot and killed.
Despite ruling out any religious affiliations as a cause for his actions, investigators are still working to piece together the events leading up to the attack and understand why it resulted in such a violent outcome. The exact reasoning behind the attacker’s actions remains unclear, but authorities continue to work tirelessly to bring justice to those affected by this tragic incident in Wolmirstedt.
