Mike Tomlin contacts Cam Sutton

The Enigma of Cam Sutton: Whereabouts Unknown Days After Release and Arrest Warrant Issued

Five days after his release from the Detroit Lions’ front office, former cornerback Cam Sutton’s whereabouts remain unknown. The 29-year-old was let go just 24 hours after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Florida for domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony that could result in up to five years in prison. The Lions plan to void Sutton’s $10.5 million in guaranteed money for the 2024 season, but he has yet to turn himself in.

There are growing concerns about Sutton’s well-being as he has not surfaced since news of his arrest warrant broke online. Speculation is rife about whether he has harmed himself or others. The NFL owners meeting is happening this week, and questions will be asked of both the Lions and the Steelers, where Sutton began his career. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has reportedly reached out to Sutton but declined to comment on their conversation.

Sutton, drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, has played in 101 games over his seven-year career and has recorded nine interceptions. In his first season with Detroit in 2023, he appeared in 17 regular games, posting 65 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, six pass defenses, and one interception. Despite a challenging season, there were hopes that Sutton would bounce back with the addition of new defensive backs to the Lions’ roster.
