The Controversial Cardinals No. 69 Jersey: A Look at its Past and Present Wearers.
The NFL offseason is in full swing and the Arizona Cardinals are preparing for their upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills on September 8th at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. The Cardinals roster currently does not have any player wearing the No. 69 jersey, which has been seen as a bit controversial due to its innuendo. However, there have been some impactful players who have worn the number in recent years.
In 2016, Evan Mathis wore the No. 69 jersey but his season was cut short due to injury after just four games. Mike Gandy was the last significant player to wear the No. 69 jersey for the Cardinals and during his time with the team, they won the division twice and made a Super Bowl appearance.
During his three seasons with the Cardinals, Mike Gandy played in and started 44 games as their starting left tackle before retiring from his eight-year NFL career.
