Report: C’s lock in Neemias Queta with multi-year deal

The Boston Celtics Secure Frontcourt Depth with Re-Signings of Neemias Queta and Daniel Theis

The Boston Celtics wasted no time in solidifying their frontcourt as soon as NBA free agency opened on Sunday. After re-signing Oshae Brissett to a one-year deal, the Celtics quickly brought back Neemias Queta on a multi-year contract, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic. Queta, who just turned 25, originally signed a two-way contract with the Celtics last year and impressed enough during the season to earn a standard contract in April.

In his first season with Boston, Queta averaged 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in limited playing time. He made history as the first Portuguese NBA player to win a championship. With Kristaps Porzingis expected to be out until November or December, the Celtics needed depth in the frontcourt, making Queta’s return even more crucial.

The re-signing of Kornet and Queta provides the Celtics with much-needed depth as they navigate Porzingis’ injury and the need to manage Al Horford’s workload. With only five players remaining on the free-agent market for Boston, decisions will need to be made on Xavier Tillman, JD Davison, Drew Peterson, Svi Mykhailiuk and Kornet.
