The St. Paul and Wachusett baseball teams faced off in a doubleheader at Tivnan Field in Worcester, Mass., on Monday. The two teams split the series, with the first game lasting nine innings and ending with a 6-5 victory for Wachusett.
In the first few innings, Wachusett took an early lead over St. Paul. They scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to go up 3-0. However, St. Paul did not give up easily and managed to tie the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. In the seventh inning, Colon Kreuz hit an RBI single that sent the game into extra innings. Finally, Caden Lane scored for Wachusett in the top of the ninth to secure their win.
During the game, Ethan DiVito hit a home run for Wachusett while Nate Roy had an impressive performance going 3-4 with three RBIs.
Despite being on opposite sides of this rivalry game, both starting pitchers put up tough performances on the mound during this matchup. Matt Moreno from Wachusett was particularly strong and led his team’s offense with his solid performance.
Overall, this doubleheader added another exciting chapter to this ongoing rivalry between these two talented baseball teams in Worcester, Massachusetts.
