Julie Mitchell, a former Tequesta village council candidate, is facing charges of stabbing her husband and daughter, leading to her transfer to a mental health treatment facility. A Palm Beach County judge signed the order for her transfer to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment. If treatment is successful, Mitchell will return to court for the continuation of her case, with a status check hearing scheduled for August.
The incident unfolded when Tequesta Police Department responded to a call about a woman who had stabbed her family and was still armed with a knife. When officers arrived at the residence on Golfview Drive, they found Mitchell inside the home, with her daughter already outside awaiting assistance. One officer recounted entering the home and witnessing two other officers struggling with Mitchell, who was still holding a kitchen knife.
Mitchell’s family was taken to JFK North Hospital for treatment. Despite being at the hospital, Mitchell made statements about God, renouncing Satan, and referring to her husband, daughter, and their dog as the devil. The tumultuous situation led to the decision to transfer her to a mental health treatment facility.
