Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone sets new world record in 400m hurdles, solidifies position as one of the fastest runners on the planet

In the 400m hurdles at the US Trials in Eugene, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone set a new world record by shaving off just 0.03 seconds from her previous record of 51.90. The race was one of the fastest in history, with four women clocking times under 53 seconds. However, McLaughlin-Levrone still managed to dominate by nearly two seconds, finishing in a personal best time of 50.65.

From the start, McLaughlin-Levrone took the lead and never looked back. She surged ahead of her competitors, including Anna Cockrell who finished second in a personal best time of 52.64, and Jasmine Jones who finished third in a personal best time of 52.77. With her strong performance, McLaughlin-Levrone crossed the finish line with a commanding lead over her competitors.

McLaughlin-Levrone has been breaking records at the US Trials for years now. In 2021, she set a world record of 51.90 in the 400m hurdles and later lowered it to 51.46 to win the Olympic gold in Tokyo. She continued her streak in 2022 by setting a new world record of 51.41 at the US Championships before winning another world title with a time of 50.68 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon where she has set four out of her five world records to date.
