Supporting Young Athletes: The Panola County Chamber of Commerce Hosts Spring Youth Sports Closet

The Panola County Chamber of Commerce in Tyler, Texas is hosting the Spring Youth Sports Closet event to provide equipment and uniforms to youth athletes. This initiative is a result of the chamber’s commitment to supporting the community’s young athletes by providing them with the necessary resources to participate in sports.

Many parents struggle to afford all the necessary items for their children to participate in sports, so several groups in Panola County have come together to make it easier for kids to play the sports they love. Keri Perot Vance, the executive director of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of community involvement in supporting youth sports. She believes that by providing equipment and uniforms, they can encourage young athletes to stay in the area and continue developing their skills.

The Carthage Service League, a local thrift shop, has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to donate items to the sports closet. This partnership has made it easier for kids in need to access sporting equipment and gear. Janet Humber, President of Carthage Service League, expressed their commitment to continue supporting the sports closet and helping kids in their community.

The goal of the Spring Youth Sports Closet event is to provide a centralized location for kids to receive equipment they need for baseball or softball seasons. The group Excellent Teen Choice hopes that their efforts will inspire other counties across Texas and beyond create similar opportunities for young athletes. Donations are accepted year-round at any time during major sports seasons or events leading up until May 24th when Spring event concludes. Anyone interested in donating or picking up youth baseball or softball equipment can contact Keri Perot Vance at (936) 560-3188 or visit www.panolacountytxchamberofcommerce.com/spring-youth-sports-closet/.
