Panthers Make Contact with Stephon Gilmore: Report

Stephon Gilmore’s Future Uncertain: Could He Return to the Panthers?

Rumors have been circulating that Stephon Gilmore may be considering a return to the Carolina Panthers. According to Joe Person of TheAthletic.com, the Panthers have reached out to Gilmore about the possibility of rejoining the team.

Gilmore, who is 33 years old, previously played for Carolina in the latter part of the 2021 season after being traded from the Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round pick. During his time with the Panthers, Gilmore appeared in nine games with eight starts, tallying 16 total tackles and two interceptions.

After his stint with the Panthers, Gilmore signed a two-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts and started in all 16 games in 2022. He was then traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, where he started all 17 games for the team and played in 94 percent of the defensive snaps. Throughout his career, which included playing for the Bills, Patriots, Colts, Panthers, and Cowboys, Gilmore has participated in 165 games and accumulated 140 passes defensed along with 31 interceptions.

Currently holding the No. 51 spot on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents available indicates that Gilmore is highly sought after by teams looking to bolster their defense. With his experience and skills on the field, Gilmore could be an asset to any team willing to sign him.
