Standout Performer of the Week in Marion County High School Sports

As the winter and fall sports season comes to a close, top-performing student-athletes are taking center stage. Following a successful weekend of cross country meets, football is the last fall sport in the spotlight. This means that long distance runners, football players, and standout soccer players are now in the limelight.

Some of the notable athletes include three top ten finishers from the cross country state series meet, Preston Wright and Tay’juan Leslie-Farmer, who excelled in their recent regional semifinal football games, and Selvin Banegas Rodas, who led Belleview to an undefeated record in soccer.

Voting for your favorite athlete is now open, and you can cast your vote once per hour on social media. The poll closes on Thursday at 2 p.m., and the results will be posted Friday morning.

In addition to these standout athletes, Marion County playoff football teams are also being highlighted. Preston Wright led in the football category with 4 passing TDs, while Selvin Banegas Rodas led the soccer category with 4 goals and 1 assist in 3 games. Hunter Duncan in soccer, Cedric McFadden in cross country, and Gianna Meccia in soccer are also being recognized for their achievements.

With so much talent on display, it’s clear that these star student-athletes are making a significant impact on their respective sports and should be exciting to watch in future competitions.
