South Park Businesses Devastated by Fire
Last night, the Seattle Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke coming from a two-story commercial building in the 8500 block of 14th Ave. S in the South Park neighborhood. As firefighters arrived on scene, they confirmed the callers’ reports and quickly began to put water on the fire. However, upon entering through the front door, crews were met with heavy smoke that caused poor visibility.
Despite the difficult conditions, firefighters were able to locate the seat of the fire near the rear of the first floor and quickly knocked it down. The fire was under control by 9:24 p.m., and investigators ruled it accidental, likely caused by faulty electrical equipment. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this incident. The fire was extinguished by 9:42 p.m., leaving residents and business owners in the area relieved but shaken by the events that unfolded.
