Slovakia Overtakes Great Britain in Women’s World Championship Match

In the Women’s World Championship, Slovakia’s dominance was evident in their 7-1 victory over Great Britain in Division 1 Group B. The game started with Slovakia taking an early lead with two quick goals in Riga. However, Katie Marsden managed to bring GB’s hopes up with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner, leaving the score at 2-1 at the end of the first period.

Despite Marsden’s efforts, Slovakia continued to control the game by scoring four more goals in the middle period and another goal in the final minute. Ema Galisova stood out as Slovakia’s top scorer, contributing two goals to their impressive win.

Marsden was recognized as GB’s player of the game for her determined performance, while Slovakia’s goaltender, Andrea Risianova, received the award for her exceptional saves in the final period that helped secure the victory for her team. With this loss, Britain now sits five points behind Slovakia, with one win, one defeat, and one overtime loss in their three matches so far.

Despite this setback, GB is preparing to face Slovenia next on Friday April 5th followed by a final match against hosts Latvia on Saturday April 6th. The top team from this group will earn promotion to Division 1 Group A which adds even more pressure for Great Britain as they fight for a spot in the next round.
