The Siebel School of Computing & Data Science is a new addition to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s campus, and it’s thanks to a generous gift from Thomas M. Siebel, an alumnus of the university and CEO of C3 AI. The school is set to build on the university’s history of computing innovation by focusing on advancing frontiers at the intersections of computing and data science.
Nancy M. Amato, the Computer Science Department Head and Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering, is thrilled about the opportunities that Siebel’s support has brought to the computing and data science community on campus. She is excited about the potential for students and faculty to continue innovating in the field while providing access to computing education for deserving students.
Robert J. Jones, Chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is proud of the interdisciplinary and collaborative work that defines research activity and educational delivery for computing and data science at his institution. With Siebel’s support, he believes that they are well-positioned to continue shaping the future of technology and preparing students for success in a digital world.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a long history of innovation, pushing boundaries in knowledge and having a lasting impact on society. It’s internationally recognized for its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and public engagement.
