The Science Mill in Johnson City is hosting a special event this summer called Shark Week, where visitors can learn everything they need to know about these fascinating creatures. From July 20-21 and July 23-28 (except on July 22), young scientists can participate in hands-on activities that focus on sharks and their impact on the ocean’s ecosystem.
During Shark Week, attendees can dissect sharks and squids, play in a shark game show, meet special guest Matt “The Shark Guy” Marchant, witness live sharks on shore, and see color-changing squids. The Science Mill is a unique museum that focuses on teaching families about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Since its opening in 2015, the museum has aimed to provide STEM programs and interactive exhibits to people of all economic statuses and locations.
The Science Mill is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Visitors can check the website or call ahead for daily activities and purchase tickets online or at the door. Walk-ins are also welcome.
