Russian Troops Surge in Ukraine Following Moscow Attack: As 16,000 Russians Sign Up to Fight in Special Military Operation

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is using the recent Moscow attack as a justification to increase troops in Ukraine. Following the attack on March 22 at the Crocus City Hall concert hall, around 16,000 Russians have signed up to fight in Ukraine. This attack resulted in 144 deaths and around 500 injuries. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that in the last ten days, 16,000 citizens signed contracts to participate in the special military operation.

According to the military department, up to 1,700 people are showing up daily at selection centers for contract enlistment. The majority of candidates mentioned the desire to avenge those killed in the tragedy as the main motivation for signing the contract. The terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall was claimed by the Islamic State of Khorasan Province, but Russian authorities insist that the trail of the attack leads to Ukraine, a claim that the Kiev government denies.

Russian investigators acknowledge the involvement of Islamists in the attack, claiming they received significant amounts of money and cryptocurrencies from Ukraine to prepare for the attack.
