Round Rock Offers Mental Health Resources After Juneteenth Shooting: Prioritizing Healing as a Community
Following the shooting at a Juneteenth event in Old Settler’s Park, Round Rock is offering mental health resources to those affected. Annie Burwell, the Crisis Response Unit Program Manager, advises everyone to prioritize their mental health and utilize these resources to support each other and begin the healing process as a community.
The Round Rock Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., from June 16 to June 21. They can be reached by calling 512-218-5501. CRU team members will answer calls, offer guidance and education, and set up in-person appointments if needed.
Outside of the CRU’s business hours, the U.S Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Disaster Distress Helpline is accessible around the clock to U.S residents. The helpline offers support in multiple languages and can be reached through calling or texting 1-800-985-5990.
