Rising Star: Anmol Kaur’s Journey to UC Merced and Her Dream of Becoming a Scientist or Doctor.

Anmol Kaur, a San Joaquin Valley native from Bakersfield, is set to embark on her journey in the worlds of science and medicine as a first-year student at UC Merced. Raised in Bakersfield and a graduate of Stockdale High School, Kaur excelled academically with a 4.5 GPA. She was also a participant in the Project Lead the Way biomedical science program where she engaged in hands-on activities such as analyzing DNA, dissecting organs, and conducting a pig autopsy. Additionally, Kaur co-founded W.I.S.E. (Women in STEM Education), a nonprofit aimed at inspiring and educating young girls about STEM careers through a variety of community initiatives.

Kaur’s acceptance into the SJV PRIME+ medical education cohort played a significant role in her decision to attend UC Merced. The university’s quiet and peaceful location that feels like home in the Central Valley beckoned her to continue her educational journey. With a BS/MD pathway, Kaur hopes to further her experiences and passion in the fields of science and medicine while also volunteering locally, forming new connections, and creating lasting memories.

As a biological sciences major, Kaur dreams of preparing for medical school with the support of her community while exploring Italy’s scenic towns for a three-day weekend getaway. Excited for the opportunities ahead, she looks forward to creating new experiences, developing relationships, and growing as a young professional.
