Revolutionizing Pediatric Care: Summer Health Secures $11.65 Million in Funding Round Led by Lux Capital and 7wireVentures

Pediatric telehealth startup Summer Health has announced the completion of a $11.65 million Series A funding round led by 7wireVentures and Lux Capital. Pivotal Ventures, a fund by Melinda French Gates, also contributed to the raise, along with existing investors Sequoia Capital, Box Group, and Chelsea Clinton’s Metrodora Ventures. The company plans to use the funds to enhance its technological platform.

Established in 2022, Summer Health offers a pediatric telehealth messaging service that allows parents to seek advice on various treatment questions related to breastfeeding, feeding issues, and minor health concerns like bumps and bruises. Based in New York, the company aims to make access to pediatric care more convenient and efficient for parents by providing them with 24/7 access to care that can fit into their busy lives.

The founder and CEO of Summer Health, Ellen DaSilva, expressed her vision for the company stating that it was founded to radically simplify access to pediatric care. She emphasized that their 24/7 platform gives parents access to care that fits their lives in minutes from anywhere. The goal of Summer Health is to help parents make informed decisions about their children’s health regardless of the time or location.

In addition to its recent funding round, Summer Health had previously raised $7.5 million in 2022 with support from Sequoia Capital, Lux Capital, and other investors. As Summer Health continues to grow and expand its services, it aims to revolutionize the way parents access pediatric care through its innovative telehealth platform.

Summer Health faces competition from other players in the pediatric care industry such as Owlet which recently partnered with telehealth staffing company Wheel to enable caregivers to prescribe Owlet’s FDA-cleared pulse oximetry socks for infants.

Key individuals from the investing firms will be joining Summer Health’s board of directors as part of this funding round.

Overall summer health is set up for success with an experienced team behind it and a unique approach towards making healthcare more accessible for children through technology.
