Aker Solutions partners with Celeros Flow Technology to provide water injection packages for North Sea electrification project.

Revolutionizing Offshore Gas Operations with Celeros Flow Technology: Reducing Emissions and Promoting Sustainability

Celeros Flow Technology (Celeros FT) has been awarded a contract to provide two new water injection packages for the AKER/OKEA power from shore project in the North Sea. These pump packages, which include electric motors and variable frequency drives (VFDs), will replace gas turbine-driven units and utilize Norway’s renewable electricity resources to reduce the carbon footprint of the customer. The project, led by Aker Solutions, involves electrification of the Draugen platform, located about 145 km off the coast of Norway. It is expected that the project, set for completion in 2026, will result in a CO2 reduction of up to 200,000 tons per year.

Tommy Kassem, CCO of Celeros FT, expressed his thoughts on winning the contract by stating, “Decarbonization of the global energy supply chain is a critical aspect of reducing climate change impacts and ensuring a cleaner future. This involves updating existing oil and gas assets and developing new renewable resources. Celeros FT is well-positioned to assist both current and new operators as they transition to using alternative, more environmentally friendly energy sources.”

The company’s ClydeUnion Pumps brand will carry out the contract by assembling skidded packages at their primary facility in Glasgow. The new pump packages are expected to increase efficiency and reduce emissions in offshore oil and gas operations in the North Sea. With this win, Celeros FT continues its commitment to providing innovative solutions that help customers achieve their sustainability goals while maintaining their operational integrity.
