After the success of Quarterback on Netflix last year, the show’s producers faced a challenge in finding enough quarterbacks for the second season. Instead of sticking with the same position, they decided to shift their focus to a new role – Receiver. Travis Kelce, a popular pass-catching tight end, was approached to join the lineup.
During an appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, Kelce revealed that he had been asked to be part of the show after Patrick Mahomes had participated. However, despite being asked, Kelce turned down the opportunity and stated that he preferred to focus on playing football and was not interested in participating in reality television anymore.
The cast for Receiver includes Justin Jefferson of the Vikings, Davante Adams of the Raiders, Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Lions, and Deebo Samuel and George Kittle of the 49ers. If Kelce had accepted the invitation, he would have likely taken center stage with the rest of the cast playing supporting roles.
Receiver is set to debut on July 12 without Travis Kelce as part of its lineup.
