Jude Bellingham, a 20-year-old English and Real Madrid midfielder, has been named the 2024 Laureus World Sports Breakthrough of the Year. On the women’s side, Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati received the women’s equivalent award. Other notable winners at this year’s Laureus ceremony included Simone Biles who won Comeback of the Year award; Diede de Groot who was named Sportsperson of the Year with a disability; and Arisa Trew who was recognized as Action sportsperson of the Year.
