Prisma Health Revolutionizes Patient Care with $41 Million Investment in Smart Beds
Prisma Health is investing $41 million to improve the patient experience by introducing new smart beds throughout their healthcare system. These Hillrom smart beds will replace approximately 1,500 inpatient beds, with the goal of enhancing care for patients in various departments including intensive care, labor and delivery, medical and surgical units, and bariatrics.
The advanced Hillrom smart beds come equipped with Hercules patient repositioning technology, allowing caregivers to safely reposition patients with ease. They also feature technology geared towards fall prevention, pressure injury reduction, increased patient comfort, and improved communication. Additionally, these innovative beds include features such as floor projections displaying bed alarm status, position and side rails, powered transport with stop-and-turn controls, a fifth wheel for portability, a built-in USB port for patient devices, and illuminated side rails and under-bed lights.
Mark O’Halla, president and CEO of Prisma Health emphasized that this investment highlights the organization’s dedication to prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction. By integrating cutting-edge technology into their clinical workflows, caregivers can deliver more efficient, accurate and compassionate care leading to improved patient outcomes. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September as Prisma Health continues to implement these smart beds throughout their facilities.
