Patrick Cantlay, who was initially listed to play in this week’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, has withdrawn from the tournament. The PGA Tour announced the change on social media Monday, with no reason given for his withdrawal. Russell Knox will take his place in the field. Despite being ranked No. 8 in the world, Cantlay has not won a Tour event since August 2022. However, he did tie for third at the U.S. Open and tied for fifth at the Travelers Championship in his two most recent starts.
In addition to Cantlay’s withdrawal, other changes were made to the field of the John Deere Classic. Taylor Montgomery and Rocket Mortgage Classic champion Cam Davis are no longer participating, while Marty Dou and Cody Gribble will now be competing in the event.
