The Defense Ministry has recently approved several measures to improve the work conditions of local self-defense unit commanders. Unfortunately, the Finance Ministry has blocked their employment as civilian workers within the IDF. In response, the Defense Ministry will increase payments to municipalities to raise the salaries of local self-defense unit commanders and create new positions for their deputies.
In addition to these financial incentives, the minister has also approved programs for training and retraining commanders and a project for acquiring equipment, ammunition, and weapons for self-defense units. These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to support and enhance the vital work carried out by local self-defense units across the country. By addressing issues related to employment conditions, salaries, and equipment for commanders, the Defense Ministry aims to strengthen the capabilities and readiness of these units to respond effectively to security challenges in their communities.
The approval of these measures underscores the government’s commitment to supporting local self-defense units and ensuring that they have the resources and support needed to fulfill their important role in safeguarding their communities. These initiatives will not only benefit local self-defense unit commanders but also contribute to enhancing overall national security.
