Spain Star Arranges Medical Tests in Preparation for Transfer to Inter Milan

New Goalkeeper Signed: Inter Milan Acquires Genoa’s Josep Martinez for €15 Million

Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez has scheduled his medicals ahead of his move to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have identified the 26-year-old as a long-term heir to Yann Sommer in goal, and have been in talks with Genoa for the past few weeks. Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Martinez will undergo his medicals tomorrow before signing his contract with the club.

Inter’s plan is to have Martinez back up Sommer next season and then inherit the starting spot in the long term. While Martinez is not the only keeper considered by Inter, he is the one they will be signing this summer. Negotiations between Inter and Genoa took place over the last couple of weeks of July, ultimately resulting in a straight cash fee of around €15 million being agreed upon.

Martinez will sign a five-year contract with Inter until the end of June 2029, worth around €1.5 million net per season. Tomorrow, he will undergo his medicals before officially becoming part of Inter’s squad ahead of their preseason training camp. The Spaniard’s move to Inter has been widely anticipated, and now it is set to become a reality.
