The Renner Behavioral Health Program at the former Teletech building in Moundsville was officially launched during a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house held by the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce. The program, a partnership between WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital, opened about a month ago in the renovated space.
The event attracted officials and dignitaries from the community who were eager to witness the launch of this new initiative. WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital received a $2.25 million grant from the Renner Foundation to help establish the program, with a portion of the funds used to renovate the clinic space.
During his speech, Douglass Harrison, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, emphasized the pressing need for behavioral health services in West Virginia and across the country. He highlighted the importance of breaking down stigmas around mental health and encouraged physicians to start referral processes for individuals seeking mental health services.
Marshall County Commission President Mike Ferro expressed his pride in having WVU Medicine expand its services in his community and acknowledged the significance of this new program. He emphasized that recognizing mental health as just as important as physical health was a positive step towards addressing mental health needs in the region.
Overall, this event marked an exciting milestone for both WVU Medicine and West Virginia’s behavioral health landscape, providing much-needed resources for those seeking mental health care in Moundsville and beyond.
