Nearly Drowned Child Incident at Indoor Water Park Sparks Investigation by State Health Department

An incident involving a nearly drowned child at an indoor water park in New York has led to an investigation by the state health department. A 5-year-old girl from Hudson was discovered unresponsive in the water at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The young girl was transported to an Albany hospital by Life Net and is currently in stable condition.

Drowning incidents at regulated bathing facilities are typically looked into by local health departments or state district offices. Monica Pomeroy, a public information officer with the state health department, confirmed via email that this specific incident is being investigated by the department’s Glens Falls District Office. However, as the investigation is ongoing, the department refrained from providing further comments at this time.

Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark opened its doors in 2006 and is owned by Six Flags. In response to the emergency, West Glens Falls EMS, Queensbury Central Fire, and the New York State Police all assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration between these entities helped expedite the response to the incident at the waterpark.
