Sunday night’s NASCAR Cup race at Nashville Superspeedway was a nail-biter that lasted a record five overtimes before Joey Logano emerged as the winner. Despite fierce competition from rookie Zane Smith and Tyler Reddick, Logano took home the checkered flag, securing his place in the playoffs.
Christopher Bell dominated the race by winning both stages, but unfortunately crashed in the third stage and finished in 36th place. Logano’s victory had a significant impact on the playoff cutline, moving him up from holding the final playoff spot to becoming the 11th driver to secure a spot with a win. With seven races left in the season, there are now five spots for the playoffs via points.
Alex Bowman currently holds the final playoff spot, while Bubba Wallace is just outside of a playoff spot, trailing Bowman by 51 points. Chase Briscoe follows behind Wallace by 78 points, and Kyle Busch is 104 points behind Bowman in the playoff race. It’s anyone’s game as they head into these final weeks of racing.
