Mysterious Drowning in Jacksonville Retention Pond Leaves Authorities Baffled

On Tuesday morning, the body of a man was discovered in a Jacksonville retention pond. The incident happened on Lee Road just north of Atlantic Boulevard, where officers responded to reports of a drowning around 8 a.m.

According to investigators, a person at a nearby business spotted the man’s body in the water and quickly called 911. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department worked together to retrieve the man’s body from the pond, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Despite the discovery of the body, authorities do not suspect foul play at this time.

The pond is located on an empty lot near an abandoned house, which has led authorities to believe that the man did not reside there. The case is currently being treated as an undetermined death, with details about his identity still being withheld.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to reach out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office through various channels such as phone, email or CrimeStoppers. The investigation remains ongoing and more details may be released as they become available.
