In the midst of crises, mobile clinics serve as a beacon of hope for those in need of mental health support. MSF psychologists are at the forefront of providing this crucial service, educating patients about the significance of mental health and its impact on their overall wellbeing. They offer guidance on enhancing sleep quality, managing anxiety and tension, and provide psycho-educational sessions to communities on stress management.
But not all cases require the same level of intervention. Some may require more intensive and long-term care. For instance, after a missile attack on a café in the village of Hroza in Kharkiv, MSF psychologists offered psychological support to survivors who had lost loved ones. Six individuals with serious injuries, some affecting brain function and speech, were among those receiving care. Victoria Lepekha, a mental health supervisor with MSF, highlighted the importance of providing support to people experiencing acute grief by listening to them, offering sympathy, and being a comforting presence during their time of need.
Through these efforts, MSF psychologists help stabilize emotional states and prevent the development of cardiovascular diseases and mental disorders. By providing basic techniques and support for mental health, patients can improve their quality of life and live happier, healthier lives.
