The Science Olympiad National Tournament at Michigan State University has come to an end, and the top winners were student teams from Monta Vista High School and Kennedy Middle School. This year marks the first time that Monta Vista’s team has claimed victory, while Kennedy’s team celebrated a back-to-back win.
One of the high school seniors from Monta Vista, Ishanvi Kommula, was among the five students to receive a $10,000 Founders’ Scholarship from the Science Olympiad USA Foundation. The tournament brought together 120 middle school and high school teams from state-level competitions, with students competing in hands-on and lab events covering a wide range of topics such as engineering, physics, epidemiology, astronomy, chemistry, robotics, and coding.
