Mexico’s Andrea Becerra Sets New Hyundai Archery World Cup Record and Reaffirms Mexican Team’s Dominance

In the opening round of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in Shanghai, Mexico’s Andrea Becerra made history by scoring an impressive 713 points. This remarkable feat not only secured her a top seed position but also reflected the strength of the Mexican team, which has been performing at a high level since its debut in 2018.

Andrea, known as Maya to her teammates, was determined to achieve her goal of becoming the top archer in the qualifying round. Despite consistently strong match results, she had never achieved a high qualifier status until now. Her personal best scores have been around 700 points over the years, and she came close to breaking the world record in Shanghai by missing out on it by just a minor error in the third-to-last end.

Despite this setback, Andrea is determined to improve and continue pushing herself towards achieving her ultimate goal of competing at the World Cup Final without needing an invitation. She has already achieved great success as a host nation invitee in Tlaxcala two years ago when she finished fourth. However, this time around, she is focused on earning her spot through her exceptional archery skills and dedication to the sport.
